Gratitude That’s where I want to start this race report. I couldn’t have done what I did without the help of many friends and volunteers. First and foremost: grateful for Kelly. She acted as both my crew chief and my pacer for lap 5. Without her pacing me, I wouldn’t have gotten in sub-22. Second, thank you to Jakob and Leandra. Jakob was my pacer for lap 4. On top of that, he also got stuff from my house I had forgotten. Third, thankful for Jen and Alex. Jen was my friend also running the 100 miler. Alex, her husband, acted as her crew chief, but also helped me out as well during my transitions. And finally, thanks to Josh! He’s a colleague who lets us borrow his gear for our crew tent spot. And he showed up the jeadquarters, just after I started lap 3, meaning sadly enough I missed him. ...

This Saturday, I’ll be towing the line for the Marin Ultra Challenge 50k. First ultra this year, first time ever that I’m doing the same ultra for a second time and first time running as an Inside Trail Ambassador. We left things on this blog at my SF half training. My first race for 2025 is coming up, the San Francisco half marathon on Sunday, February 2nd. This will be my first road race since the Oakland half in 2022, and my first race back after the Javelina 100 DNF. I’m a little nervous going back to road racing, but training has showed I’m in good shape and I’m looking forward to a great race. That said, this is not a goal race for me. The half marathon was put on the schedule as a goal post for a speed block. I’m writing this about 2 weeks prior to the 2024 Canyons Endurance Run 100k. This will be my first 100k trail run, and I wanted to share of some of my race prep. 2 weeks ago, I ran a 50k race in 6 hours and 32 minutes. Yesterday, I ran the Tahoe Rim Endurance Run 60k (watch says 64k) in 12hours and 30 minutes. This race was hard. It was hot. It was at elevation (ranging from 1500 to 2500m, 4900ft to 8900ft). There was snow. There was a lot of climbing, over 2000m (6000ft). And most of all: it was a lot of fun!!! ...
